As a female-owned photography business based in Gold Bar, WA, we understand that planning a family photo session can be overwhelming. One of the most common questions we receive is, "What should we wear?" Don't worry, we're here to help!

First, let's talk about color palates. The Pacific Northwest is known for its lush greenery and natural beauty, so we recommend earthy tones such as olive green, mustard yellow, and deep burgundy. These colors complement the natural surroundings and will make your photos feel cohesive. If you prefer a brighter color palate, consider shades of blue or coral.

When it comes to prints, we suggest keeping it simple. Avoid bold patterns or graphics as they can be distracting and take away from the focus of the photos - your family! Stick to subtle patterns such as stripes or small florals. If someone in your family insists on wearing a bold print, have them wear it as an accent piece like a scarf or tie.

Now, let's talk about fabrics and textures. In the Pacific Northwest, the weather can be unpredictable, so it's important to dress in layers. Choose fabrics that are comfortable and breathable like cotton, linen, or chambray. Add texture to your outfits by incorporating pieces such as a knit sweater, denim jacket, or suede boots. By layering your outfits you are also giving yourselves more variety in your final gallery.

At our photography sessions, we strive to make the experience stress-free, fun, and relaxed. We want to capture your family's unique personalities and connections, and we believe that starts with feeling comfortable and at ease. We encourage our clients to bring any props or accessories that will help showcase their individuality, such as a favorite book, a family heirloom, or a beloved pet. We love it when you bring your fur babies!!

During the session, we'll guide you through poses and prompts to capture natural and authentic moments. We want to capture your family's joy and love, and we believe that happens when you're having fun together.

Although choosing what to wear for a family photo session can be daunting, hopefully with these tips, you'll be on your way to a successful photoshoot. Remember to stick to earthy tones, subtle prints, and comfortable fabrics with added textures. And when in doubt, feel free to ask us for advice! At our photography sessions, we strive to create a stress-free, fun, and relaxed atmosphere, allowing us to capture the beauty and uniqueness of your family.

Once you book your session, you will receive an in-depth style guide that will go through ALL the different palates, fabrics, textures and how to prepare your minds and bodies to have fun together during your session!

Our riverfront property also has an indoor studio to keep us dry and warm. If rain doesn't bother you, then I like to start us indoors in the studio and then take the clear umbrellas outside to see if we can create some magic! If we are on location, we try to keep ahead of the forecast and make sure our location has a spot to tuck out of the rain or to fully embrace the puddles and the splashing.

We want your images to be personal and one of the best way to do that is to bring your own "props". A special lovelie for the baby, a blanket Grandma made, or a necklace someone special gave you all add personality to your photos and we are here for that! If you have special items that you would like to include in your photo shoot, please bring them! If you don't, however, don't worry. We include all of our props and make them accessible to you!

It may take two weeks to ensure that all of your photos are processed and edited. If you order prints, they are typically shipped and delivered within 5 business days. We also offer prints, frames, canvases, and photo albums for all of your images.
